Japan’s Inpex Corp, said today its consortium started producing oil from the offshore Nasr oilfield in Abu Dhabi on 24th of January, Reuters has reported.Â
The field started producing at a rate of 6,000 barrels per day and is targeting 22,000 bpd production by the end of this year in its first phase of development, Adma-Opco, the field’s main operator told The National.
Total production from the field, located 130km northwest of Abu Dhabi, is estimated to reach 65,000 barrels per day after its second phase of development is completed in 2018.
Inpex has a 12% stake in the project, with its main stake holder Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company (Adma-Opco) holding 60%. BP and Total are also part of the consortium with 14.67% and Total 13.33% interest respectvely.Â
The Nasr field is part of Adma-Opco’s programme to add an extra 300,000 bpd capacity to Abu Dhabi’s overall production levels.
