H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance of UAE, Chairman of Dragon Oil, officially opened the 3rd edition of GOTECH 2019 this morning.

Showcasing the latest practical applications in the sector with a focus on spreading technology and innovation and sharing experiences and best practices globally, GOTECH 2019 has attracted influential oil and gas professionals from across the globe as well as researchers, specialists and academia. We sincerely hope that this is another successful event that results in ideas, recommendations and constructive proposals that will have a tangible impact in raising the prospects of the petroleum industry,” said H.H. Sheikh Hamdan welcoming all delegates to the UAE.
More than 100 top drawer companies are currently exhibiting their cutting-edge technologies and solutions at GOTECH 2019. This initiative, which has grown tremendously since 2017, is designed to tangibly support the oil and gas industry and enhance matters of mutual benefit and is seen as a powerful platform where the leading players in the oil and gas industry can meet and share their views on moving ahead and addressing issues of common interest.
His Excellency Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Climate Change and Environment for the United Arab Emirates, was the keynote speaker at the Ministerial Talks. His talk focused on global energy transformation to achieve sustainable growth and ensure availability of energy resources at competitive prices.
“Environmental protection and sustainability cannot be a mere trend and here in the UAE we are committed to strengthening the conversation on this front. We have invested heavily in renewable energy and broken the world record for solar power and we see the major strides being taken in the oil and gas sector,” said His Excellency.
Stalwarts of the industry were also felicitated for their lifetime achievements and contributions to the oil and gas industry, including Nizar Al Adsani, former deputy chairman and CEO of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, Darcy Spady, 2018 SPE President, Sami Alnuaim, 2019 SPE President and Faisal Al Mahroos, former CEO of BAPCO.

The official environmental adviser to the Ajman government and royal family member, Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Ali Al Nuaimi, also attended Day 1 of GOTECH 2019.
