Weatherford International Pipeline and Specialty Services group has won a contract from Saipem for pre-commissioning services on the Urugua-Mexilhao pipeline in the Santos Basin, offshore Brazil.
The firm’s scope of work includes filling, testing, dewatering, conditioning and geometry inspection of the pipeline as well as onshore preparation operations. The project is expected to be completed this year.
The pipeline, which measures 18inches and 174km long, will link the floating production, storage and offloading vessel Cidade de Santos, which is located in the exploratory block BS-500 at Urugua field, to the Mexilhao gas platform in the Mexilhao field.
Weatherford’s pipeline operations in Brazil have expanded in the last four years, with the addition of in-line inspection pigging services coming in 2009.
