Saudi Aramco has appointed Yasir Othman al-Rumayyan as its chairman, replacing former energy minister Khalid Al-Falih. As the governor of the Public Investment Fund, al-Rumayyan helped transform it into the country’s primary vehicle for diversification and one of the world’s largest investors in technology startups.
The Saudi Press Agency quoted him as saying that he would secure the “highest standards of transparency and efficiency” at Saudi Aramco, as it moves towards an IPO in 2020-21.
He has been a member of the company’s board of directors since 2016.
