Kuwait Petroleum Corporation and Qatar Liquified Gas Company (Qatargas 2) have entered an agreement to supply KPC with liquefied natural gas this year. The terms of agreement include eight LNG cargoes to be delivered to Kuwait by the end of 2014.
The LNG which is sourced from Qatargas 2 – Train 4, a joint venture between Qatar Petroleum and ExxonMobil which started in 2009 and delivered on board Q-Flex LNG Vessel to KPC’s Mina Al-Ahmadi LNG terminal in Kuwait.
“This is a very important milestone in Qatar’s standing as a reliable energy supplier as it marks the first direct agreement between the two companies and the first ever deliveries of LNG to Kuwait onboard Q-Flex vessels and it marks a significant development in LNG trade in the region,” said H E Dr Mohamed bin Saleh Al Sada, minister of Energy and Industry, Qatar.
