New head comes from Oman Gas Co. where he served ten years as CEO

BP has appointed Yousuf Al Ojaili to the role of president and country head of BP Oman, making him the first Omani national country manager for BP.

Al Ojaili joins the company from Oman Gas Co., a subsidiary of Oman Oil Co., where he spent ten years as a chief executive officer.

Al Ojaili has more than 27 years of engineering and business experience, with some of his roles in Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) and Brunei Shell Petroleum.

Michael Townshend, BP’s regional president for the Middle East, said: “I am very pleased to welcome Al Ojaili to our team as president of BP Oman. His wealth of experience will greatly benefit us, as we press ahead with the Khazzan project.

“This is a historic milestone for BP as Yousuf Al Ojaili is the first Omani country manager for BP in the country. I have known Al Ojaili for almost 10 years and believe he’ll do an excellent job in the role. I would also like to thank Dave Campbell for his leadership – Dave will continue as vice-president for operations and COO for BP Oman”.

Al Ojaili said, “I’m thrilled to be joining BP Oman. Khazzan is a project of strategic importance to Oman which will supply about one third of the country’s gas. I look forward to working with the Omani government and Oman Oil to deliver this vital project.”
