Thirty eight officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have paid a visit to Petroleum Development of Oman (PDO) to check on the company’s progress in oil and gas projects.

In the three-hour visit PDO ‘s In-Country Value (ICV) strategy to retain more of the industry’s wealth in Oman was revealed to the ministry delegates as they toured around the company’s Mina Al Fahal headquarters.

The purpose of the visit was also to discuss production targets, current and future projects and health, safety and the environment (HSE-related) goals. A live link-up with the Company’s Lekhwair cluster using collaborative technology was also demonstrated to the dignitaries.

His Excellency Sayyid Badr bin Hamed Al Busaidi, Secretary-General at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said: “I recognise the success of PDO and what it contributes to the nation and my team and I are very pleased to see a senior Omani team in place. PDO leads by example on many fronts, such as ICV and enhanced oil recovery, and we welcome the Company’s management commitment to sustainability and celebrate its success.

” PDO is a technical and scientific leader in the exploration and production of oil and gas and in its economic contributions to the community, training and the environment. Everyone found the visit most enlightening and very beneficial.”

PDO Managing Director Raoul Restucci said: “We were delighted and honoured to have hosted such a distinguished delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This was the latest in a series of VIP visits to PDO to increase knowledge and understanding of the great work we do on a daily basis to serve Oman and our stakeholders.

“We provided the officials an overview of our business including key priorities ranging from health, safety and the environment, production, project delivery and our In-Country Value strategy along with the scale and extent of our Omani job creation, training and social performance highlights.

“There was also a live audiovisual link-up from our headquarters with our team in Lekhwair to show how PDO is using the latest technology to improve our productivity and communication. The visitors were very interested in, and supportive of, our operations and will be invaluable advocates in promoting the Company’s reputation both at home and abroad.”

A visit by foreign ambassadors in Muscat will take place on 14th October as delegates from the Netherlands, Brunei, Belgium and Kenya already met with PDO’s officials in the company’s headquarters earlier this year to discuss possible collaboration opportunities.

Petroleum Development Oman ( PDO ) accounts for about 70% of the country’s crude-oil production and nearly all of its natural gas supply. The Company is owned by the Government of Oman, with a 60% interest, the Shell Group, with a 34% interest, Total )that has a 4% interest) and Partex (a 2% interest). Gas fields and processing plants are operated by PDO exclusively on behalf of the government
