France’s Cegelec has signed a US$7 million contract with Abu Dhabi’s GASCO to replace the existing turbine control systems for the two production trains of the GASCO NGL extraction plant in Bu Hasa.
The contract provides for a complete retrofit of six control systems during scheduled shutdowns with a minimum downtime. The upgrade for one train will take place this year while the second one is to be performed at the end of 2011.
Cegelec has a long-standing relationship with GASCO. In 2005 it completed the Bu Hasa Integrated Control System project (HICS) for the plant’s control room modernisation. More recently, the group was also entrusted with the Asab and Bab Integrated Control System Project (ABICS).

The technology company recently won a contract with Qatar Petroleum to replace a turbine control system in Mesaieed. In October 2009 the company also won a $40 million contract to design and construct a blast- proof control building for a new multi-billion dollar polyethylene plant being constructed for QAPCO in Qatar.
