Iraq has qualified 41 companies to participate in its 4th energy bidding round, which is scheduled to take place in late January, Abdul-Mahdy al-Ameedi, director of the oil ministry’s contracts and licensing directorate, told Reuters today.
The 4th bidding round for 12 new exploration blocs is expected to add 29 trillion cubic feet of gas and 10 billion barrels of oil to Iraqi reserves from the auction.
Bids were submitted between 14 April and 6 June with the Petroleum Contracts & Licensing Directorate scoring companies on the five criteria of technical, legal, financial, training and health & safety.
Ameedi said the next step would be inviting the 41 companies to a roadshow on Sept 11 in Amman, Jordan and presenting a data package with initial tender protocol to companies on Sept 12.
The companies, now released by the Iraqi oil ministry today, broken down by headquarters are:
– Supermajors: BP, Shell, Chevron, ExxonMobil and Total.
– MENA firms: Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation, Mubadala and Kuwait Energy.
– Chinese firms: CNPC, Petrochina and CNOOC.
– Japanese firms:  Atpeco, Inpex, Itochu, Japex, Jogmec, JX Nippon, Mitsubishi, Mitsui and Sumitomo.
– Russian firms: Bashneft, Gazprom, Lukoil, Rosneft and TNK-BP.
– South Korean firms: Kogas
– SE Asian firms: Petronas, Petro Vietnam, PT Pertamina and PTTEP (Thailand).
– European firms: Statoil, Eni, Edison, Hess, INA-Industraja Nafte (Croatia), Premier Oil (UK), TPAO (Turkey)
– US firms: Hess, Occidental
– Other:Â Sonangol (Angola), Pakistan Petroleum, ONGC (India)
