Ras Gas Company Ltd (RasGas), acting for and on behalf of the Barzan Project owners – Qatar Petroleum (QP) and ExxonMobil Barzan Limited Company – has announced that marine site surveys are planned to commence on or about 23 April 2011 by a subcontractor of Hyundai Heavy Industries Co Ltd to carry out Geophysical and ROV Surveys.
A survey vessel, MV Zakher Fugro, will be operating towed geophysical survey instrumentals, soil sampling equipment and an ROV within the operations area. The vessel will be in the area for approximately 20 days, according to an update by shipping and logistics provider GAC.
QP and ExxonMobil Barzan Limited Company (a subsidiary of ExxonMobil) in January signed an US$8.6 billion joint venture contract to develop the major offshore project.
