L&T, Petrofac in advanced stages of construction for $200 million project

According to data from DMS Projects, the engineering work for the project has been fully completed

EPC giants L&T and Petrofac have completed the engineering and are in advanced stages of construction works for a $200 million project awarded in 2019 by Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) for the Mabrouk North East Line Pipe Procurement Project in Oman.

According to data from DMS Projects, the engineering work for the project has been fully completed and 100% of the procurement orders have been placed. Construction works have reached advanced stages and the last wells will enter the pre-commissioning stage before the end of 2022.

It’s worth noting that both L&T and Petrofac were the top contractors on our Top 25 EPC ranking published last month.

In 2019, Petrofac secured its third project under a 10-year framework agreement with PDO with the award of a procurement services project for the Mabrouk North East development.

The project scope includes management of line pipe material from sourcing, technical and commercial evaluation, planning and control services with management and co-ordination of interfaces with all parties involved.

In July 2020, PDO appointed L&T as its construction contractor for the Mabrouk field development. Under the agreement, L&T is handling all the construction and installation activities within the field.

Mabrouk North East is a major gas-Condensate discovery in Block 10. The field is located 35 km west of Saih Rawl field. This project will increase gas and condensate supply to cover the country’s demand for gas. The Mabrouk North East field is planned to be executed in a phased approach. The first phase is production wells that will be carried out in parallel with the full field development.
