ADNOC picks Ruwais over Fujairah for LNG project

ADNOC said on Tuesday that its LNG project would move forward in UAE’s Al Ruwais Industrial City instead of Fujairah.

The location’s vicinity to ADNOC’s current operations and its future growth projects as well as its local supplier base were all important factors in the decision, ADNOC said in a press release.

The project had been planned in Fujairah’s Gulf of Oman, which lies between Iran and the Gulf known as the Strait of Hormuz.

Through its planned LNG growth project, ADNOC intends to more than double its LNG production capacity to meet increased global demand for natural gas. The plant, which is designed with electric-powered processing facilities, will run on renewable and nuclear grid power making it one of the lowest carbon intensity LNG facilities in the world.
